Description

Bertrand Bottles, A Study of 19th Century Glass and Ceramic Containers. Functional information on more than 6000 bottles recovered from the steamer Bertrand in 1968-1969. These bottles common during the Civil War were rare in the 1960's. This cache provides an important means of dating other historic sites. The destination for these bottles was the mining districts in Montana Territory. This work includes the classification, function and history of this glass. Many of the bottles retained their corks, seals, and labels. 100/Softbound/Illustrations/Photographs/tables
