Caption:
"Col. Bartlett Boder, St. Joseph, Mo., president of the Missouri Valley Trust Co. of that city, and national president of the Central Overland Pony Express Trails Ass'n as he appeared in costume at the commemoration of the Pony Express Centennial, April 2nd and at Troy, April 3rd. The costume he wore was that of the well dressed gentleman of a hundred years ago. The frock coat belonged to his distinguished father, Louis Boder, Missouri and Kansas banker, who with his brother Henry Boder, founded the Bank of Troy in 1870. The vest was worn by his brother Pliney Soper at the double wedding of the Leland sisters, Fanny and Sarah, at Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, in 1858. Fanny was married to Pliney Soper and Sarah was married to Judge John Bartlett Quimby. Shortly after this marriage, the Soper family came to St. Joseph and then to Troy, Kansas. Mrs. Soper established the first private school near the present home of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Marble, Jr. in West Troy. Mrs. Soper was the sister of Cyrus Leland, Jr., and the daughter of Brig. Gen. Cyrus Leland, Sr. of Civil War fame. Col. Boder is a cousin of Mrs. Soper."Lexicon
