Scope and Content

Boder, Bartlett, Letter Home to Mother Regarding Return from France in World War I, Nov. 21.1918. Photo print of the letter. "Nov. 21, 1918 Dear Mother,-- By the time this reaches you I will probably be well on my way towards America, the order having been published today that we shall be ready to embark on short notice. The order giving me my promotion has passed General Pershing and is now on its way down to our bridgade. I trust that it will arrive before we leave. I don't know where we shall be demobilized but in all probability it will be at some army post not far from home. I trust that you are well and that Frank has reached home by the time this letter does. Naturally I have not considered what I shall do after reaching home, but I believe I should like a good vacation first to sort of forget the dreary grind of the past two years. Affectionately, Bartlett.
