Description

Boone, Fleming H.: Portrait Photo, c. 1880. Sepia photograph of Fleming Hezekiah (Hiram) Boone as older man, with dark hair, longish beard, wearing 3-piece suit. Photocopy of his obituary attached. St. Joseph Gazette-Herald. Sept. 28, 1898. (reports his age as 77, which would make his birth year 1821, as opposed to genealogy record stating, 1833.) Boone was pioneer settler in Andrew County, perhaps descended from Squire Boone, Daniel's brother. He is the father of Elizabeth Jane Boone (Cassel). SJM has in its collection items belonging to or made by Elizabeth, along with family records. Hiram lived at 712 N. 17th, St. Joseph, MO. A = Photograph B = Obituary
