Research Notes

Notes

This tiny bowl was created by an artist in the San Juan Pueblo. Despite its small size, the charring on one side of this small vessel indicates that it was a useful tool rather than a purely decorative piece of art. This geometric design is very distinct to the American Southwest; however, these small vessels with geometric designs can be found all the way south into Peru, hinting at the possible large geographic connections of these ancient peoples.
