The image shows an antique, round, bronze-colored coin featuring a profile engraving of a classical figure adorned with a laurel wreath on its head, suggesting a depiction of a historical or mythological personage, possibly of Roman or Greek influence, with intricate details along the neckpiece complementing the overall design. The worn appearance of the coin indicates its antiquity and possibly its historical significance, hinting at a rich past and the passage of time, while the textured material of the background adds a sophisticated touch to the presentation, drawing focus to the artifact itself. The presence of slight tarnishing and wear marks on the coin suggests it has been handled or circulated, adding layers of character and story to its existence, inviting curiosity about its origin, age, and journey over the years.

Description

Canadian 1825 Bust and Harp token. These tokens were struck in 1825 in Great Britain for circulation in (mostly southern) Canada. Due to a currency regulation issued in 1825, these coins were post-dated 1820 in order to get around that regulation. These were circulated in large quantities in mainly present-day Quebec. The order for the original tokens was anonymous. They were in circulation for almost 30 years, after which banks refused them as payment except by their weight. The man in Roman regalia is a crude bust of George III with an Irish harp on reverse.
