Button Industry is a survey history of the use of the button. Author Jones was a newspaper man by profession, but he was the son of the manager of an old established Birmingham button making firm (Jennens, Limited) and this accounts for his knowledge of the subject of buttons. He traces the use of the button from Ancient Egypt and then throughout the world. Linen, pearl, bone, horne, porcelain, glass, metal buttons are discussed. In the later part of his book, he tells about the button industry and tools used to make them in factories.
