Carter, William M.L. Photo from History Biography, c. 1870. b/w. Photocopy of photo published in a County History. "William M.L. Carter" handwritten at bottom.
Includes typed script outlining Carter's arrival in St. Joseph in 1884 and establishment of a plow factory at 2nd & Edmond St. He married the niece of Robert Stewart, later Missouri Governor, whose family lived in Belmont, KS on the west side of the river. Carter lived in a frame house at 8th & Edmond. He had 3 daughters and 1 son, one of whom lived at 1902 Clay in the 1950s.
