Dear Sir-.
We have your ???? of the 12th.list. enclosing N. Y. state for 10.00 for which we thank..
In return, we are sending you three baskets which we trust, will suit, you.. We thought if you liken them, you could keep
them, if not return, and we will return your money.
The baskets sent are hapily a sample of baskets here, but we do not consider our better baskets, the most valuable for collection purposes.
Basket #1, was by General Lachusa's woman, she is very old, the general himself, is said, on good authority to be considerable
over 100 years old .. Anyone posted on Indian history in this country can tell you about the family..
Basket # 2, was also made by quite on old woman, Joe Cebada's woman. her husband was rumored last fall, by two other Indians, and she has gone back to making baskets for a living- she had not made any for several years,. Her work is always at the plainer colors, and shapes.
Basket #3, was made by Mrs. James Lloyd, of the Mesa Grande - her husband is a half-breed Indian, and American.. The coloring is very desirable , we believe, and we believe and the material from which this basket is made is quite rare here. we very seldom get baskets of this material.
