Civil War Letter: Parker, Benjamin, from Morganza Bend, Louisiana to his Sister, 1864. He is encamped near the river. They have had three grand reviews by General Emry Sickles and Reynolds. The are having hot weather and a few of the boys have been sick. There are several kinds of bugs and one got into his ear. He said they ought to have seen him making for the doctors hanging onto his ear. There are rebs all around them. General Camby has command of the army. He is at Vicksburg . The river has fell 12 feet since they have been there. They live on pork bacon, hard tack, and coffee. Most of the officers were going home for good. Dated June 26, 1864.
