Classification of the Order of PrimatesEntry/Object ID
L1975.4.4Description
Deaccessioned 06/11/2014. Not in Mission. Obsolete: A Classification of the Order Primates was written to familiarize the reader with some biological traits which identify the various extant taxa (formal units used in classification) within the Order Primates. The author is proposing his naming system be used, although there are other suggested systems also being promoted elsewhere. This classification is helpful in assigning names so that when the species is discussed there is little ambiguity about which one is the topic. Included are chapters on: The Higher Taxa, the Lower Taxa, Suborders, The Prosimii, Subdivisions of the Prosimii, Prosimian Summary, The Platyrrhini, The Catarrhini, the Cercopithecoidea, The Homonoidea, References Cited.. A table is included: A Classification of Living Primates.Collection
