Notes

18th Century This weapon is called a nifo'oti in the Samoan language. This club would have been handcrafted by a very specialized artisan. Both sides were created to be lethal - one side covered with a spine of spikes and the other with a hooked spike that can be used against foes. This weapons is considered the national weapon of Samoa. The etchings along weapon would have been chosen individually by the carver and would have been rubbed with white chalk to make the etchings stand out.
