"A meeting of Old-timers at Historic Spot"
"This monument marks the spot where the first Pony Express Rider started in 1860. Buffalo Bill, the best known of the Riders, was not able to be present when this monument was dedicated so when his show visited St. Joseph, accompanied by his band of Indians, he made a special trip to the monument and met two of the old time Riders. Majors (?) and Cliff, who were there to meet him.
The man at Buffalo Bill's right is Majors (?) and the one at his left is Charlie Cliff."
