L2012.3.14Description
The Collector's Encyclopedia of Dolls is intended to identify dolls through descriptive materials, photographs, and marks. The written entries attempt to provide documented data on who, when, where, and what. The "who" covers manufacturers, distributors, designers, and patentees. The "when" covers comtemporary, documentation from the ancient world through 1925. The "where" includes Western Europe and America, with a few entries for other parts of the world, especially countries producing commercial dolls for the markets of the Western World. The "what" covers the names of dolls; the materials used for dolls; the methods of manufacturing both entire dolls and parts of dolls; descriptions of types of dolls and their parts, including marks, clothing, sizes, and relative prices. A couple of newspaper clippings were found in the books. One dated 11/9/80: "Closed Mouth Dolls Bring the Biggest Payoffs" and one dated 9/5/80: "Age Helps Some Dolls".
