Description

Conrad (Thomas) Residence, 903 Robidoux, Photos, c. 1885-1920. Thomas Conrad, an early St. Joseph merchant with firm of Clarke, Conrad, Curtin, built a large 2-story brick home on the corner of 9th & Robidoux (903 Robidoux Street), in 1865, according to family history records. He died in 1880. His widow, Mary, his daughter Martha Clarke and her daughters, May & Genevieve lived in the home thereafter. Martha & May moved into Mertland Apartments shortly before Martha's death in 1949. The home and its grand contents were sold. The house was razed in 1970. Photos are mostly snapshots or more formal photographs of young people on the lawn of the home. A = Exterior View, Front of home and impressive view of front porch and steps up from street level.
