Description

Phase I Cultural Resources Survey and Phase II Archaeological Testing of Site 23AN108,0.3 miles east of Route 1-29, Route T, Andrew County, December, 1986. 1 mile north of Amazonia, Missouri. Phase I cultural resources survey and Phase II archaeological testing of the proposed right-of-way and easements required for highway Job No. 1-S-T-317, Andrew County, Missouri involved the initial examination of one previously unreported prehistoric site, 23AN108 and one Camelback Pony Truss bridge. Both the bridge and site will be directly impacted during the project construction. The data gleaned from historic documentation, personal communications and on site examination demonstrated that Site SN23108 does not meet the criteria of eligibility for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. In addition, Bridge No. W-244 built in 1915 and repaired in 1960 is of no outstanding or unique engineering merit and is typical example of its time. It is the opinion of the reporter that it does not qualify under the National Register of Historic Places criteria. 66/Report/Strap Bound/Maps/Illustrations.
