Daguerreotype of Preston Talbot Moss.
Preston Talbot Moss was the father of Josiah Beattie Moss. He died at age 40 in 1861. His
wife was Susan Henry Beattie, J. B. Moss's mother. The Moss and Beattie families came
from Kentucky and Virginia, and were pioneer landwowners in the St. Joseph. The large oil
portrait of Mr. Moss was taken from this daguerreotype. The label was written by Mary
Leach Moss, his daughter-in-law.
