L2007.30.8Description
Dear Mr. Rosenwald is the story of Julius Rosenwald, president of Sears, Roebuck and Co. who donated money to help build schools in rural black communities. Previously, schools were "crude, unpainted box shacks with no foundation no desks, blackboard, no window shades, no library and no equipment." Members of the community were required to raise funds, also and provide the labor to build the schools. The story is written in the form of a young girl writing a letter to Mr. Rosenwald to thank him for helping them build a school.
