Description

Discrimination against Blacks in 1969 (1959?) at 22nd Street Eatery, Marvin Hughes Video. Digital File (must be viewed with program that supports .mp4 file). Home movie of interview with Marvin Hughes, taken across the street from a "drive-in" restaurant situated at the corner of 22nd & Angelique (?) Streets. The restaurant does not have internal seating. The movie has poor sound quality. It may have been taken by Bob Simpson. The name of the restaurant may have been Crossroads. Marvin Hughes reports that his brothers, Doug and Mert were denied services at this restaurant and were disrespected. Police were called and the brothers were arrested. At the police station, when they asked what they were charged with the reply was nothing. The Police Chief came in and released them. Outside the police station was a mass of people protesting their arrest.
