Craig's Rifles, a wholly social organization, had its origin when Kansas City civilians were organized as a Home Guard to maintain order during the labor strikes of the summer of 1877. Company A was captained by Henry H. Craig. It became an actual independent military unit after this conflict, but devolved into a social organization. It held famous balls and a yearly encampment. The group disbanded in 1887.Made/Created
