Emigrating to California in 1849 was a journal kept by E.C. Koontz. He left from St. Joseph on May 1, 1849, and arrived in California at Greenhorns Creek on August 31. Very brief entries for each day. Koontz was originally from Pennsylvania and later settled in northeast Iowa. Typed copy made by great grandson Edward J. Nash of St. Joseph, Missouri. Also contains a descendancy chart.
