Emily and the Santa Fe Trail is a fictitious story based in part on Susan Shelby Magoffin's true account of a trip by covered wagon to Santa Fe. It is the story of a trader making the trip from Independence, Missouri to Santa Fe. They haul dry goods, foodstuffs and hardware.
