Scope and Content

A empty envelope from an unknown to Fred Thornton, St. Joseph, Missouri, postmarked Detroit, MICH Apr 2 1949. An additional postmark on the back reads Zurich 58 Flughafen -3 IV 49-24.

Context

The left side of the envelope is printed AIR MAIL and overlaid is a green stamped picture of a female ice skater and the printing FIRST FLIGHT T.W.A. Detroit, Mich. U.S.A. to Zurich, Switzerland. There upon is a printed 10¢ stamp containing an airplane.
