Scope and Content

Empty envelope addressed to Mr. E.J. Eckel of St. Joseph, Missouri at the Corby-Forsee Building, dated December 12, 1911. The envelope has a printed message: “After 5 days return to The German-American National Bank, St. Joseph, MO.” Architectural dimensions have been drawn on the envelope in pencil, and a very faded message can be seen on the left side of the envelope. Perhaps it faded with time, or another letter was written on top of it? All that can be made out is "... black enamelled steel ..."

Context

Edmond Jacques Eckel was one of the most prolific architects in the city of St. Joseph’s history. He was part of several architectural firms and designed some of the city’s most iconic buildings. The German-American National Bank is a local bank located at 624 Felix Street.
