Scope and Content

An empty envelope, addressed to Mr. C. F. Weller, Omaha, Nebr. from C. D. Smith Drug CO., St Joseph, Mo., postmarked Jan 10 with no visible year. It includes a green embossed 2¢ stamp with a profile of Geo. Washington.

Context

On the back is printed an advertisement for 'C. D. Smith Drug Co., St. Joseph, Mo., SOLE AGENTS'. In the middle is a picture of a shallow wooden box containing multiple wrapped bottles of 'Thoroughbred Whiskey (Brand Copyrighted U. S. Patent Office)'. Around the picture are claims of the whiskey's quality, how it is sold and, care taken in packaging. It further states ' Terms and Prices Given to Dealers on Application'. and 'Send for Illustrated Circular of Handsome Offer Given TO INTRODUCE IT.' Also, on the back is a stamp for the date, Jan 11, that it was Rec'd in Omaha, Nebr., again with no year.
