Field Display at Mannschreck's, 1950. A display of pictures of Eugene Field and his intimates, along with several of his books, is in the window of Mannschreck's Book Store. The pictures were loaned by Mrs. Jane Fassett Rice, who has a collection of information concerning Field assembled by her brother, the late Charles Wood Fassett, who lived here for many years.
The window display calls attention to the approaching centennial of the birth of one of St. Joseph's most famous citizens. Eugene Field was born September 2, 1850 and the anniversary will be celebrated with a program on the grounds of St. Joseph Museum Sunday night.
