Clarke, Martha (Conrad): Portraits (5), 1871-1903. Formal portraits of Martha Conrad over her life. She is the daughter of Thomas & Mary Ivory Conrad. She married Joseph Clarke in 1878 and they had two daughters, May & Genevieve. Neither girl married. Genevieve entered a religious order about 1902. E&F = Photo as Teen, 1871 Full length. Girl age 13, leaning against chair back. She is wearing a full length dress with a bustle at back. The medium colored dress has an over skirt with button front and large pocket. The bodice is caped. Her dark hair is worn down. She has a black ribbon choker at neck. She is wearing a leather glove and holding another Handwritten: (E) on back: "Martha Conrad (Clarke), age 13". (F) at bottom: "My amiable self" on back: "Martha Conrad (Clarke).
