Visually similar incense burners were found that were created in Japan. These incense burners had slight differences - the base that is present in this item were not present in those that were found that looked similar and there were slight differences in the face. However, there were no seated Buddha incense burners that looked anything similar to this that were found to have been made in China. Accession book lists item as Chinese.
