Malcontent Aims Loaded Revolver At British King
Weapon Knocked From His Hand by Woman.
London, July 16 Edward of England, a king for almost six months, rode unharmed today into range of a loaded, leveled revolver which was knocked from the hands of a London malcontent.
The pistol, knocked from the hand of its crippled, bald-headed owner by a middle-aged heroine in gray, clattered harmlessly to the roadway behind the king's horse on crowded Constitution Hill. The malcontent, George Andrew McMahon, thirty-four years old, once an editor, and a native Scotsman, struggled in the strong arms of London bobbies. Whisked to a Bow street dock, he wailed: I didn't want to hurt him. I only did it as a protest.Lexicon
