First St. Joseph Historical Society, Group Photo, c. 1867. b/w Photo of group of 13 men, 12 of them seated, and one man standing at right, dressed in attire of the 1860s. Handwritten on back of photo " First Historical Society of St. Joseph".
This photo was the subject of a Museum Graphic article in which a biography of all the men listed was published. Meeting was called by Col. Albe, M. Saxton, president of society, held on the 2nd floor of the State National Bank, (of which Saxton was also president), SE corner of 4th & Felix. One of their first project was to establish a lending library. See 2020.1.333 for information file containing the biographies.)
