The triangular shaped stamp, depicting a needle-nosed jet plane against a red background, was designed by
Robert J. Jones of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, who also created the almost identical version it replaces.
It is slightly larger. The usual red and blue parallelograms appear on the envelope. .
Collectors desiring first day cancellations on the 10-cent air mail stamped envelope, standard 6¾ size, may submit
orders to the Postmaster, at Chicago, Illinois 6060, plainly indicating the full name and address, INCLUDING ZIP CODE,
with remittance to cover the cost which is 12 cents for each envelope. The outside envelope to the Postmaster should
be endorsed "First Day Covers 10¢ Air Mail Envelope."Lexicon
