15¢ Aerogramme (Modified)
This aerogramme replaces the letter sheet of the same stamp design that was issued May 28, 1971.
The adhesive strips on the flaps have been increased, folding and sealing instructions have been
modified and the word "aerogramme" has been added to the lower left front panel.
The stamp design, which is nearly 4½ inches wide, shows a gray flock of eight birds in flight. To the right
in a white rhomboid is set in interlocking fashion a red "u", a white "s" and a blue "a" . At the bottom, in gray,
is "postage 15c".
The letter sheet provides air mail service anywhere in the world for 15 cents.
Collectors desiring first day cancellations may address requests to: "15c Aerogramme, Postmaster,
Philadelphia, PA, 19104" enclosing the proper remittance. For those collectors also sending their own mailing
labels, first-day canceled aerogrammes will be dispatched under separate cover. The customary stipulation
that requests be postmarked no later than the day of issue had been waived in this instance, due to the time
element. Requests will be accepted through the end of January 1972.
