13-CENT HUMAN RIGHTS YEAR
Commemorative Aerogramme
( a picture of the stamp)
The 13-cent Human Rights Year commemorative aerogramme, good for world-wide usage, will be first placed on
sale at Washington, D. C. on December 3, 1968.
The United Nations has designated 1968 as Human Rights Year and President Johnson has proclaimed United States participation and named a commission for observance headed by Ambassador W. Averell Harriman. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the passage by the UN of the Declaration of Human Rights.
Antonio Frasconi of South Norfolk, Connecticut, designed the aerogramme. It will be printed by Gravure Division of Union-Camp Corporation, Englewood, New Jersey. This new aerogramme will be gummed on three ides rather than the usual one. It will be printed on slightly heavier blue paper and will be phosphor-tagged.
Collectors desiring first day cancellations may submit orders to the Postmaster, Washington, D. C. 20013, plainly
indicating the full name and address, INCLUDING ZIP CODE, with remittance to cover the cost which is 13 cents each. The outside envelope to the Postmaster should be endorsed "First Day Covers 13-cent Human Rights Year Aerogramme." Orders must be postmarked no later than December 3, 1968.Lexicon
