Commemorative Stamped Envelope

FEBRUARY 25, 1971
The 6-cent White House Conference On Youth commemorative stamped envelope will be first placed on
sale at Washington, D. C. on February 24, 1971.
The design of the stamp on the envelope is based on the symbol of the conference, an abstract design created by
Chermayeff and Geismar Associates of New York City and is printed in blue on white. Featured on the design are primitive symbols of the expectant soul of man and of universal brotherhood. These have been refined into a series of rugged
interlocking "Y" shapes-three each in three different dimensions.
These envelopes will be printed in the No. 6¾ standard size only and an initial printing order of 30 million has been
authorized.
Collectors desiring first day cancellations may submit orders to the Postmaster, Washington, D. C. 20013, plainly
indicating full name and address, INCLUDING ZIP CODE, with remittance to cover the cost which is 8 cents for each envelope. The envelope to the Postmaster should be endorsed "First Day Covers 6¢ White House Conference on Youth Envelope." Requests must be postmarked no later than February 24, 1971Lexicon
