Scope and Content

Fort Leavenworth Campus Drawing, 1838. Print of drawing by George Gray of Fort Leavenworth as it looked in 1838, drawn as an "aerial" view looking down from a prominence. Three streets with wagon trains entering from feeder road in front. No fortifications surround the post. George Gray was the muralist for the painting of the Platte Purchase, 1938, which first hung in the Pony Bar'n of the Hotel Robidoux. It now is exhibited at the Pony Express Museum. Appears to have been wadded up and then pressed flat.
