Description

Gather at the Table. This cookbook's cover has a picture of the last supper on it. Inside the cookbook on the second page there is a dedication page that reads "Dedication Ashland United Methodist Church St. Joseph, Missouri 'After he had said this, he took bread and giving thanks to God in the presence of all, he broke it and began to eat.' Acts 27:35 Ashland United Methodist Church traces its beginnings back 160 years in the St. Joseph community. We have grown from a handful of dedicated pioneer families to more than 700 families today. This cookbook celebrates that proud heritage, with many descendants of those founding families counted among the contributors of recipes. There is a special bond between those who gather at the table to break bread together. May this collection of recipes bring joy and foster fellowship among all who use them and remind us that we all are members of The Body of Christ. The United Methodist Women's organization at Ashland coordinated this cookbook to raise funds to update the church's kitchen equipment. It truly reflects an outstanding effort by the whole congregation and we would like to dedicate this book to all our wonderful members. We look forward to future growth as more families join us in celebrating our faith and blessings." On the next page is a page about appreciation which reads "Appreciation A special thank you is extended to each of the individuals and families who took the time to share their favorite recipes that made this book possible. We would also like to recognize the contributions of the following individuals: David L. Garrison, photographer, for his efforts to capture the images of our church today. Mrs. Louise Kost Mosiman Hees for her dedication to our church's history and her wonderful written record of the history. Mrs. Rick (Susan) Smith for her historical information and photographs. The church office staff for their support. Finally, a special thanks goes to the Cookbook Committee that worked so hard to make this dream a reality: Karen Akers, Chair, Phyllis Baker, Chris Barber, Rene Burress, Sally Dunham, Deborah Ellsworth, Nancy Hammer, Thelma Kline, Marge, Palmer, Beth Stephens, Jill Waller, and Sondra Wandfluh." The book also includes a table of contents which highlights some of the choices you have including appetizers and beverages, soups and salads, vegetables and side dishes, main dishes, breads and rolls, desserts, cookies and candy, this and that, and index.
