General Rules and Regulations--St. Joseph Railway, Light, Heat and Power Co. was printed for the Guidance of Conductors, Motormen, Foremen and Trainmasters. Also on the title page is the "NOTICE This book of rules must be carried for reference at all times, when on duty. On leaving the services of the company it must be returned to the office, together with any other returnable property." Page 3 contains a General Notice from J. H. Van Brunt, Vice-Pres. and Gen. Mgr. concerning the general conduct expected from an employee--as of Sept. 1, 1918. The first 31 pages give detailed rules for Foremen and Trainmasters concerning such things as safety of passengers, accidents, transfers, collection of fares and economical use of current (power).
The next 24 pages contain addresses of public buildings, libraries, hospitals, cemetaries and theaters and parks as well as an alphabetical street guide. A helpful index is included at the end of the small book.
