Guarding Overland Mails, 1861-1866 is a collection of reports sent to William C. Endicott, Secretary of War--the President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate. The record seems to be divided into 3 sections. Each of the sections is s a group of 3 states--all basically from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Coast. There are probably records of the Pony Express within those sections as it went from St. Joseph, MO to Sacramento, CA. An index of state records is included at the end of the book.
