Description

Guide to the Identification of Certain American Indian Projectile Points, Special Bulletin No. 2 seems to be a continuation of the study began in Special Bulletin No. l. It is incomplete in that only 50 projectile point types (arrowheads and spearheads) out of between 150 and 200 types which have been named in the United States--partially because it is an ongoing study. The most commonly recognized are included in this book. "As a general rule, the small sized, thin, pressure flaked points, commonly called 'bird points' by collectors, are arrowheads, while the larger and heavier points are dart points or spearheads." Any of them may have had various uses, however. 105/Softbound/Illustrations.
