Description
A Guidebook to Manuscripts is a guide to the historical manuscript collections of the Thomas Gilcrease Institute. It is compiled by Mrs. W. R. Holway, former chairman of the Gilcrease Library Committee, along with her sister, Miss Clare Kerr. "The Gilcrease collection is not limited to the interests of Oklahoma history or to the history of the principle Indian tribes of the state." It includes holdings of Hispanic material, as well as maps, photostats, and photographs of various tribes of Indians. "The spot illustrations featured throughout this publication are taken from an album of drawings attributed to seventeenth century French-Canadian cartographer, Charles Becard de Granville, also included in the manuscripts files of the Gilcrease Library." An excellent index to the manuscripts is included at the end of the book.
