Description
Guittard, Xavier, Pony Express Station keeper. Photo in Family Group, 1908. Copy of photo in oval brass frame of older man, perhaps in 70's, with white hair, mustache. wearing three-piece dark suit, with bowtie.
Guittard's Relay Station was built by Vermillion Creek in Kansas, built originally as a 2-story lodge for passersby. It had two stables and about 20 horses. Richard F. Burton stopped at the Station on his way west, mentioning it in his book.
