Description

Gulliver's Travels: "Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World in Four Parts." Included are copious notes, and A Life of the Author by W. C. Taylor, LLD, of Trinity College, Dublin. The four parts are "A Voyage to Lilliput," A Voyage to Brobdingnag," "A Voyage to Laputa, etc.", and "A Voyage to the Country of the Houyhnhnms." in which the main character encounters peoples much smaller and also much larger than he. Swift's work is moral and political: through the vehicle of a romantic fiction to exhibit to mankind--viewed, as it were, apart from themselves--their vices, their follies, their meannesses, their political errors, and social fault." The book is by Lemuel Gulliver, written in 1726, and is the story of his adventures. There are also 4 small cards, with pictures and words in German which were left in the book by a reader. 334/Hardbouind
