Hall, Willard P. Residence, 21st & Messanie, Photos (3), 1860 & 1960. b/w Two photos of the Rectory at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church that stand at Warsaw Streets (21st) & Messanie, taken by Don Reynolds c. 1950s-1960. The original structure was the home of Willard P Hall, St. Joseph attorney, U.S. Representative, provisional Lt. Governor of Missouri, and upon the death of his predecessor, Governor of Missouri, 1864-1865.
Included is a photo of drawing of the large home as converted into the church's first building. A larger brick church was constructed to the west of this frame building, and the Hall home converted to a rectory.
(In 1977, SS Peter & Paul closed and joined with Immaculate Conception Church to create Queen of the Apostles parish at 10th & Angelique).
92.1H.17 = Photo of drawing, 2 story frame home with full front porch & balcony, stairs rising under porch to 2nd story. Church steeple built on top. Handwritten at bottom: "The First SS. Peter and Paul's Church, St. Joseph, Mo. (The former Hall Mansion)."
92.1H.18-19 = Two views of the Rectory at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church as it appear in the 1950s. The structure sits just to the east of the brick church. The 2-story building appears to be of brick, painted a light color and partial covered porch in front, with trellises. Winter scene.Made/Created
