"Know all men by these presents that I Willard P. Hall, of the county of Buchanan and state of Missouri have bargained & sold & by these presents do bargain & sell unto Mary J. Richardson, of said county & state, for & in consideration of six hundred dollars to me in hand paid by said Mary J. Richardson, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, my negro boy Alfred, aged about fifteen years.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of July, A.D., 1852. Willard P. Hall (signature)
