Holbein's Dance of Death and Bible Woodcuts states in the Preface that Holbein's Dance of Death was originally published in Lyons in 1538 and reproduced many times since. The book contains nearly 150 woodcuts and includes a scripture from the Old Testament and explanation of each. The preface also says that the woodcuts may be of interest to musicans (musical instruments), dance enthusiasts, and physicians. The woodcuts also contain examples of costume, furniture, architecture, implements of war, and other fields.
