Lempfrit's Oregon Trail Journal is the diary of the Roman Catholic priest, a member of the Congregation of Oblates of Mary Immaculate, who became a missionary to the Indians of the Northwest. He was known as the "doctor", and his medical skills were called upon many times during the long trek. He is one of many prominent members of his order. He tried to help as schoolmaster, doctor and missionary among the Indians of the Northwest.
