Description
Immaculate Conception Sanctuary Color Photo Postcard, 2000. View from choir loft, looking toward altar and with view of stained-glass window on north wall.
Legend: "Twin Spires-- a view of the interior from the choir loft showing the beautiful Gothic architecture and some of the stained-glass windows all dating from 1908.
The ethereal beauty of the interior has induced many couples to schedule their weddings here. Also, the fine acoustics of the building encourage choral presentations, club meetings and other civic activities. It was the site for a book signing event by St. Joseph's native son, Walter Cronkite, a well-known news reporter for several decades.
Visitors are awed by the spectacular beauty of the building both exterior and interior. The church bells are still in place and are run on infrequent occasions. The building is handicap accessible for both levels and has two spacious parking lots adjacent to the north doors shown in the picture."
