Description

Incredible Owen Girls. A biography of sisters, Mary Alicia, Luella and Juliette Owen, children of James and Agnes Cargill Owen of St. Joseph, Missouri. The sisters raised in 1850's St. Joseph at 306 North Ninth Street, would never marry but, rather, become experts in fields not yet open to women--nationally and internationally recognized. Mary Alicia was a writer, Luella a cave geologist, and Juliette, a naturalist. For this history told in an engaging style, the author relied on research and interviews with St. Joseph citizens who were either related to the Owen sisters or knew them first hand. 187/Hardbound/Illustrations.
