Ishi in Two Worlds -a Biography of the Last Wild Indian in North America. In 1911, in the California foothills of Mount Lassen, Ishi, the last survivor of a Stone Age Indian culture, the Yahi, startled the Modern World by accidentally wandering into it. The book is a story of a tribe that survived almost unchanged along the streams of the area from what we call the Age of Pericles to the period of our Gold Rush. The story continues with a description of Ishi's adjustment to the trolley-world of San Francisco. Ishi died in 1914.
