Description

Ishi's Tale of Lizard is the translation of stories told by Ishi, the last member of the Yahi tribe of California, who came out of hiding in August 1911. He recited these stories in his own language to the anthropologists he worked with in San Francisco. The tale in this book about Lizard, the hero, is as true as is possible to the words Ishi used. It tells of the daily life as he had lived it with his tribe. 29/Softbound/Illustrations
